How life in this pandemic changing me ?

Ever since 2020 began, life is not just going normal. We are trying to adapt to new things, something is changing but some remain the same.

Ever thought, that one single thing arrives and the whole world changes drastically. If you are looking into the negative sides you might still stumble upon a few more to think upon. But why go for negativity, when we have loads of positivity to search for.

The Beginning

I quite remember the early December in 2019 when in news they showed about corona virus and how people were suffering in China. At that moment like any other, I too thought it was fake or something, not gonna be arriving in India. But then to my shock, everything began to change tremendously. This deadly virus arrived in the city, it created panic and tension. I remember the very last day I was sending my daughters to school, with all those hand sanitizers and all… It is all like yesterday.

This virus, burst like hell and broke my lil one’s best graduation event too. I just hated those things. But what to do, have to live .. than be saddened upon these things.

Ever since March, we all were just indoors, not going anywhere but staying under the same roof for a longer and longer time. Sometimes, time begins to eat our patience, as we all are never being together in space like this. It was indeed difficult.

New habits, new things and much more.

I was scared that my kids are gonna be TV addicts and I am gonna be much more stout and plump that I wont be able to get out of that door. Panic dreams and scary dreams haunted me day and night.

Never knew we all could survive these 7 months like this and gonna survive much more…

The first few days went well.. but then work, household work, kids boredom everything began to eat my patience a lot. Moreover doing nothing, my weight also began to revolt. And over this, the news about the spread was much more frightening. All I could wonder was how people are so careless…

It is truly said that when you don’t feel good from within, the whole world outside you is also gonna tumble down.

Hence What I did was…

The very first thing I did was, completely take myself away from this news and media, which was anyways not doing them justice and creating panic more.

Once I did this, I was far away from collapsing.

The next thing I did was focus on myself… I started to work out, eat right and focus on being a healthy mind and body. In this venture, I included my kids too, started doing fun workouts with them, which in turn helped me and them and I got plenty of quality time with them, which I don’t say at all.

Decided to read more books, hence brought the same. Even indulged in making my kids find healthy reading habits too. Moreover, it helped my daughters to improve themselves in this period.

Vacation which prolonged a lot, we utilized teaching our mother tongue to my kids, which again came out well maybe not exemplary but yes Good for me.

We went for walks together, spend quality time playing together caroms, badminton, and much more… which was indeed fun. It kept my brain and heart happier. Even I got the opportunity to learn cycling and include it in my healthy regime to continue my journey to fitness dedicatedly.

The important thing we did was sticking to a routine, no matter its holiday or not, we ensured we get up early, finish everything on time and then sit to work or study or even for being free. This helped us in a great deal and saved much of my time.

So overall, this pandemic brought me so many things in surplus with my dear ones and that makes me happier. Although there are other things I miss, then we all are in a virtual world, things are turning well. At least we can work remotely, be in touch with friends who were long gone from our life for a while, learn new things and also be around our kids and watch them grow.

So If I put everything together:

  1. Self-love and self-motivation.
  2. Fix a routine.
  3. Be with family.
  4. Count your blessings
  5. Fix your time and schedule to ensure you get plenty of time free or to do what you love.
  6. Sleep well.. sleep enough not too much.
  7. Be happy.
  8. Take up a new hobby or get back to your favourite niche.
  9. Be healthy.
  10. Be positive.

It is rightly said,

Everything is a blessing in disguise

7 Ways to Cope with Work from Home and Kids Schooling during Covid

Most of the parents, i know and do not know are going through this same phase now. One side you are dealing with your deadlines and the other side you are handling the kids who are working on their new classwork or even exam. I know I am not alone in this. I know we all parents are braving through this situation which is quite new to all of us. Having everyone at home around and working on things is indeed a hard task.
Right now, both I and my partner are indeed full time working from home, but I am quite lucky that my mom is around and being an experienced teacher and a good mom she helps me and my kids greatly. Yet we all follow certain routines which can be handy for anyone, no matter you have help or not.
Here are some ways on how you can make yourself comfortable with this hectic schedule.

1. Make sure everyone has their own space.

To ensure there are no interruptions in your or your spouse’s work as well as your kids’ studies, ensure that everyone has their own space to work or study uninterrupted. Make sure when you need some space, you tell your kids that you need not be disturbed for a while.

2. Accept the fact that you are not in the office.

Being at home, it means you are always surrounded by kids or someone. Hence accept the fact that you are gonna be always working like this. Once you accept the fact, you will not set many expectations, which indeed helps a lot. Hence this is the new normal which you need to accept.

3. Communicate Well

Be it family or work, make sure you make realistic goals and communicate the same. Never overburden yourself. You can set yourself clear to your co-workers when you are working, that expecting a complete 9-5 job from you when you are at home is not advisable as you are subjected to disturbances at home. At times you need to be around the child, who is also dealing with an unfamiliar situation of learning online. Even the teacher might find it difficult to explain to the child, this is when you can hand in and help the child. Here now at home, when my elder one has a subjective test, I need to be around to click the picture and upload it soon as time is precious. At times my mornings are quite rush time with these activities.

4. Be flexible with your hours

Like in the office you cant set your time and be there working all the time. At home, you have constant calls from kids to feed them or some household work or maybe some help they need at studying. All these are unavoidable tasks, which you need to work on along with work. Hence ensure that you plan your basic activities and work alongside and go for Flexi hours. When you are needed to be around the kid, be that, and then plan your work after that. The first thing you need is to make your mind understand.

5. Schedule

It is very important to set up a schedule in your everyday life. Plan to finish all your cooking for breakfast and lunch before in the morning and then plan for work. If you are cooking separately in the evening for dinner, do it along with the tea and snacks. Make sure you plan your meals and hence purchase accordingly stuffing in the fridge like vegetables, batter etc. It is not just you who can make it right, ensure everyone at home follows the same. Motivate the kids to follow it too.

6. Relax time and break time

Don’t just sit and work, take time out to relax and even spend time playing with kids. Or even grab a book to read. It will help you stress less and polish your brain and body with new energy.

7. Don’t be too stringent to yourself for being perfect

Be imperfect there is nothing wrong it. Sometimes you might all go wrong, it is ok. Just trust yourself and then go with the flow.

I hope these tips help you out in this COVID times. Managing home, work and kids at the same time is indeed a tough job. And remember you are doing great. Keep doing it, and remember to chill.

Get a lil Sunshine and get a healthy mind

Ever felt suffocated, being enclosed in a room for hours.

I am one such person, who can’t stand a closed room, even the lift seems quite suffocating me, even when it is difficult to climb, at some instance, i prefer to choose steps.

Nowadays, as most of us are locked up insider home and even unable to take a break away from work. We all are not just escaping from Corona, but falling for another sickness that is Vitamin D deficiency, and much more i can say. People who are more confined to their homes, especially the older generation, kids and even people who are glued to their laptops are the ones who are targeted.

Most of us, who are working, want a peaceful space to work with no disturbance, hence choose a closed room. Even though we want to take regular breaks from work to grab some tea or coffee or even a little sunlight, we do not get a chance and end up in that room for a longer duration. By the time, we get the break, the sun is gone and our sleep arrives.
Being cooped up in your home is surely gonna eat up your brain, stimulate your stress hormones even when you are working from home, homeschooling your kids or just staying indoors during this pandemic. You are likely going to be prone to some mental stress, depression, back pain and even cold and cough.
It is said that spending time out in the sun and fresh air is linked to the vitality. It is also proven that time spends outside not only makes your body resilient to illnesses but also makes your mind fresh and open. If you see there are heaps of benefits on getting some fresh air and sunlight.
Here are some ways to soak yourself in sunlight and get your lungs a fresh gush of pure air.
Dont make excuses saying your gym is closed, walking for a while outside is ideal for your health. Either take your pet for a walk, or go for a run, or just take a brisk walk. These are all gonna benefit you in one way or the other.
Walking outside can also elevate your mood. Staying indoors for long is going to eat your patience and boost the stress hormones. It is not ideal for your mental health. Scientifically it’s proven that people who generally went out and walked are less prone to depression.

Going out for a while kills boredom. Yea ideal for your kids and even elder ones who are likely homeschooling and also staying indoors for long hours. When you go out, your brain likely gets so many things to watch for, which will stimulate good energy and positivity.
Open your windows and let some sunshine enter your home space, it lets you kill the germs in the atmosphere that are likely to exist in the closed areas. Ventilated homes are ideal for your brain health and mental health too.

If you see a lack of vitamin D, has also caused many health problems, like backache, bone problems, cold and cough and much more. Just walk around in the morning and get some stretches for those lazy bones for a healthy living.

Get a sharper mind and healthier body with a little sunshine and fresh air.
